The project

The stage is set for an all-British world title clash between two of the best featherweights on the planet. Leigh Wood, the reigning WBA champion, will defend his title against Josh Warrington at the Utilita Arena in Sheffield on October 7.

Wood is a power-puncher with a granite chin. He has 16 knockouts to his name, including a stunning seventh-round stoppage of Mauricio Lara in May to win back his title. Warrington is a slick boxer with a good jab and a sharp left hook. He is also a two-time world champion, having previously held the IBF title.

This is a fight that has been brewing for some time. Wood and Warrington have been linked to a fight for several years, but it has taken until now to finally get it over the line. Both men are in their prime and both are looking to make a statement.
